Child Protection Policy Statement
Thomson-Leng Musical Society and Thomson Leng Youth Music Theatre are committed to a child-centred approach to our work with children and young people. This work is primarily involved in productions and activities that we, ourselves organise. We undertake to provide a safe environment and experience, where the welfare of the child/young person is paramount. We will adhere to the recommendations of Children First: National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children, published by the Department of Health and Children. We have implemented procedures covering:
- Code of behaviour for all members
- Reporting of suspected or disclosed abuse
- Allegations of misconduct or abuse by members
- Complaints and comments
- Incidents and accidents
This policy will be reviewed on 30th January 2012. We have a nominated Child Protection Officer.
Bullying is an unacceptable, anti-social behaviour, and will not be tolerated in Thomson Leng Musical Society or Thomson Leng Youth Musical Theatre and we actively work together to challenge it. We are currently putting in place more effective methods of identifying bullying and the tackling of it. Should any member have any concerns regarding bullying or has witnessed such behaviour please do not hesitate to tell a member of the Committee or Production Team.
We aim to give an induction and safety presentation for all members at the start of every new rehearsal period and/or production run. You should at each new venue acquaint yourself with the fire exits, toilets and dressing rooms. If you missed the induction, or if you have not been given a guided tour of the facilities, please ask any of the production team or committee.
